The excitement is palpable and it really captures an era that you can hear slipping a way over the course of the Smile Sessions. You can hear the Wrecking Crew at their finest bringing their ideas and A-game to the sessions. I find even the work sessions a lot more enjoyable. a true wealth of insight, knowledge and interesting commentary. I think the presentation and notes for the original box set were among the best I have seen in a box set by a pop artist. Listening to those voices is breath taking and I always experience a near religious sense of bliss when listening to them. I am not going to leave out the Stack o' Vocals acapella mixes either which seal the deal for me. Listening to the alternate takes and instrumentals (not to mention finished album) is just pure enjoyment for me. I find the Smile Sessions fascinating and it is great to have an official release of so much of the material (some never heard before.) Smile Sessions is always a fascinating listen and I go through periods of being obsessed with this era in Beach Boys history.
